How do I provide Public Comment at a Board Meeting?
Members of the public are encouraged to participate in meetings and to address the Governing Board on any matter listed on the agenda or on a matter within the jurisdiction of the Board. In order to conduct district business in an orderly and efficient manner, any of the following methods may be used for public comment:

Someone wishing to speak during the Board’s consideration of an item may click on the “Raise Hand” icon: Please wait to be called upon to speak by the Secretary to the Board. The host of the meeting will unmute your audio to allow you to begin speaking (up to 3 minutes). When the host allows you to talk, you will see a notification within Zoom letting you know that your microphone is going to be unmuted. At the end of public comment, the host will place you back on mute.
OPTION 2: Live Comments through Zoom - Access via Phone
Someone wishing to speak during the Board’s consideration of an item via phone can use the phone's dial pad: *9 - Raise Hand. Please wait to be called upon to speak by the Secretary to the Board. To begin speaking (up to 3 minutes), please unmute your phone by pressing *6. Once you finish speaking, press *6 to mute your line again.
OPTION 3: Public Comment by E-mail
Public comments may be sent via email to the Superintendent’s Office at ebarriga@cusd.claremont.edu. Please include item number if applicable. All emails received by the posted deadline indicated on the meeting agenda will be read into the record (up to 3 minutes) during the Board’s consideration of the item.
Addressing Public Comment
Public comment on items on the agenda, including Closed Session items, will be addressed during the presentation of that item. Public comment on items not on the agenda will be addressed when the Board reaches that portion of the meeting.
Time Limit for Comments on Agenda or Non-Agenda Items
Pursuant to Board Bylaw 9323, public comment on any one agenda or non-agenda item is limited to three minutes per speaker, and for a total of 20 minutes per item/topic.
Per the Brown Act, no action may be taken and no discussion held on items raised during public comment that are not on the agenda. The Board may ask for clarification and/or refer the item to staff.
As a reminder, the Board requests but does not require public speakers to identify themselves.

Currently, the District has over 7,000 students in its TK-12 program and runs an extensive Adult School program. There are seven unique elementary schools, one includes a program for the orthopedically handicapped; an intermediate school; a comprehensive high school; and a community day school and a continuation school.
